Loosely based on a true story.
This is the original recipe for the Singapore Sling, as found on Wikipedia. I’m putting it on my site so I don’t have to dig it up on the Wikipedia page every time I want to make one. (Why I don’t have the damn thing memorized is beyond me.)
This is all metric, so Americans and the other two slightly more obscure nations which still use Imperial measurements will have to use their brains and convert.
4.0 cl (8 parts) Gin
2.0 cl (4 parts) Heering Cherry Liqueur (cherry brandy)
0.5 cl (1 part) Cointreau
0.5 cl (1 part) DOM Bénédictine
1.0 cl (2 parts) Grenadine
8.0 cl (16 parts) Pineapple juice
3.0 cl (6 parts) Fresh lemon juice
1 dash Angostura bitters
Shake it all up in a cocktail shaker with ice, and then pour it (sans ice) into a Poco Grande glass (or a tall glass if you don’t know what the hell a “Poco Grande” is or don’t have one).
This is a tasty drink I threw together in a moment of inspiration and a trickle of blue curacao.
In an old fashioned glass, put in some ice and add:
2 oz. gin (or vodka)
1 oz. kirschwasser
1/2 oz. blue curacao
splash lemon juice
top with cranberry juice
The result will instantly explain why I call it “Purple Drank.”

A proper Singapore Sling uses many ingredients that I don’t often have. So I fake it a bit and call my variation a Singapore Fling. It pales in comparison, but at least it has gin and cherry brandy in it. And sometimes it even uses pineapple juice!
In an old fashioned glass, throw in some ice and combine:
1 1/2 oz. gin
1 1/2 oz. sloe gin
1 oz. Kirschwasser
1/2 oz. Campari
splash lemon juice
top with orange juice (pineapple juice if you want to be more traditional)
You’ll wind up with a deliciously red drink that will really mess with your taste buds. (I think it’s the Campari what does it.)

Now that I’m graduated, I don’t have the Federal cash flow I once did. (Actually I owe about $20 K for student loans. Not as bad as it could be.) So that means my liquor cabinet doesn’t get refilled as often as I’d like. But I just rediscovered my RTF file of mixed drink recipes and I thought I’d share a quick and relatively cheap drink.
Throw a couple cubes of ice into an old fashioned glass and mix:
2 oz. gin
2 oz. sloe gin
splash lemon juice
top with orange juice
It doesn’t really compare with the original Singapore Fling. (Which for some reason hasn’t yet been transferred over from my old site. I’ll have to remedy that soon.) But if all you can afford is a bottle of gin and a bottle of sloe gin, and you forgot to stock up on tonic, this is an awesome little drink.

I bought myself some Tuaca today because I was looking for something a little different. I threw this little ditty together since it’s so sunny and nice out today.
3 oz. light rum
1 1/2 oz. Tuaca
1/2 oz. orange liqueur
splash of lime juice
Mix ingredients in a shaker with ice and serve up in a chilled glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
Yummy!

I found this recipe in my Pocket Cocktails app for iPod Touch. Try it. Eez deelish!
2 oz. gin
2 oz. lychee liqueur
1/2 oz. blue curacao
1/2 oz. grenadine
Stir ingredients over ice and serve up. Garnish with a sprig of mint or a maraschino cherry. If you mix it right, it makes a stunning rich purple.

Here’s a drink I concocted after discovering the absolute joy that is Goldschlager. I call it “Eris’ Golden Apple.”
1 1/2 oz. Canadian bourbon (whiskey)
1 1/2 oz. Applejack brandy
1 oz. apple schnapps
1 oz. Goldschlager
Shake in a cocktail mixer over ice and serve up. Make Eris proud.
I was in a particularly silly mood this afternoon and I had one can of diet orange soda left in the fridge. So I came up with this little variation on gin ‘n’ juice.
In an eight ounce rocks glass, combine the following over ice:
3 oz. gin
1 oz. orange liqueur
squirt of lemon juice
top with orange soda
Throw on some Snoop Dogg and party ’til the parents come home.

It’s high time I start using Twitter to serve my website rather than the other way around. This lame-ass post is basically just a test to see what happens with this new plugin I downloaded.
So with that, how about a simple cocktail recipe for you: a thank you for stopping by…
Apple Cinnamontini
3 oz. apple vodka
1 1/2 oz. sour apple pucker
1/2 oz. goldschlager
Mix in a cocktail shaker over ice and serve up in a chilled, five ounce martini glass. Yummy!
