I’ve done the unthinkable. I’ve signed up to participate in this year’s National Novel Writing Month. Why? I would have to say it’s because I’m among the many creative types who can only accomplish great works of art when there’s a surly overlord with a whip also known as a looming deadline.
I’m going into my first NaNoWriMo completely green. I’ll be a total noob and I will have a completely blank Scrivener file open on my laptop. The only thing I’ll have going in to November 1st is a vague idea that my novel will be science fiction.
(There’s nothing quite so enticing yet simultaneously so intimidating as a tabula rasa.)
November 1st through 30th will be filled with frenetic writing. I will also do my best to silence my nagging inner editor. This is going to be an experiment in pure, uncritical writing. I’ll save the criticism for December.
