Here’s a drink I concocted after discovering the absolute joy that is Goldschlager. I call it “Eris’ Golden Apple.”
1 1/2 oz. Canadian bourbon (whiskey)
1 1/2 oz. Applejack brandy
1 oz. apple schnapps
1 oz. Goldschlager
Shake in a cocktail mixer over ice and serve up. Make Eris proud.
I was in a particularly silly mood this afternoon and I had one can of diet orange soda left in the fridge. So I came up with this little variation on gin ‘n’ juice.
In an eight ounce rocks glass, combine the following over ice:
3 oz. gin
1 oz. orange liqueur
squirt of lemon juice
top with orange soda
Throw on some Snoop Dogg and party ’til the parents come home.

I’ve been trying to be diligent in keeping my new site active with blog posts and the occasional artwork, but I’ve been busy these last couple of days busting out a new WordPress theme. It has the same color scheme as my old site (because I really like the lime green and sky blue combination), but I’ve tweaked it to be fluid at different screen resolutions (something my old site lacks).
I’m sure there will be a few more holes in the design that I’ll need to fix as they present themselves, but I’m definitely satisfied with the look.
Carpe Diem,

It’s high time I start using Twitter to serve my website rather than the other way around. This lame-ass post is basically just a test to see what happens with this new plugin I downloaded.
So with that, how about a simple cocktail recipe for you: a thank you for stopping by…
Apple Cinnamontini
3 oz. apple vodka
1 1/2 oz. sour apple pucker
1/2 oz. goldschlager
Mix in a cocktail shaker over ice and serve up in a chilled, five ounce martini glass. Yummy!

[edit: The first time didn't work. Let's try it again.

Greetings everyone and welcome to my website, ellejohara.com. I’ve been going by that moniker both online and offline for the last three years now and I’ve really embraced it. The word is derivative of the Arabic word “الجوهرة” (al jówhara) which means “the jewel.” It’s the name I chose for myself when I first began studying Arabic. Now I use it for practically all of my online activities from Twitter, to AIM, to “the Googles.”
This blog will soon become the repository of everything that my old site was, and hopefully much more. From sketches and illustrations to cocktail recipes and short fiction, ellejohara.com will be my new online home for things I create.
Stay tuned! The site will be ever evolving.
Carpe Diem,
