Sometimes you read a book and you have to wonder if the author wrote it just for you. I had that thought in the back of my head the whole time I was reading Reciprocity, the debut novel from Sean M. Locke. He gave me a copy to review, and I loved these characters so much I had to make a painting.
If you like Dashiell Hammett, dieselpunk, or getting dropped face-first into strange new worlds with no instructions, then this is a book for you. The main character, Kaeri, finds herself smitten for a saber-wielding noblewoman named Maria. The two of them soon learn they are both connected to a plot to distribute a devastating new weapon across the city, and it’s going to take both of them to put a stop to it.
